A year and a half ago I came to my husband and said, “I want to give blogging a try again.” Of course he looked at me wondering how in the world I would make this a reality. I was juggling 4 small children, homeschooling and already had a full schedule. I knew it meant extra hours, but the desire in me to start documenting and sharing within the sewing community was strong. I had casually blogged many many years ago (you can see the old blog here) and wanted to jump back in. Somehow I was able to convince him that I could handle this and over the course of the next few months, Indoor Shannon was started.
It hasn’t been easy, but the inspiration and joy I gain from being a part of the sewing community is what drives me. When I need someone’s thoughts on a pattern I love reading pattern reviews. This has saved me a ton of time and energy over the years to see a pattern made up, what works/doesn’t and any tips and tricks before I dive in. Because that has always been such a help to me, I focused a lot of my posts on pattern reviews this past year.
Tutorials are everything, right? If I need to know how to bake a gluten-free, egg free cake that tastes good– google that! If I need to know how to make cute little crafts for a party, or I just want to be reminded of how to insert those dang welt pockets…HAHA…you know what to do! Searching blogs and You Tube pages for help is a pretty amazing thing when you think about it. The world is at our fingertips. I like to add my own sewing tutorials in the mix as well so that maybe, just maybe, one day in your searching I may be of help to you like so many have helped me over the years.
And of course, I love a great pattern hack. Filming and writing out hack posts are some of my most labor intensive but fun projects. I just can’t help myself to tweak and change things here and there. I hope you have been able to check out the hacks on my YouTube channel.
But the best part of the past year of blogging is my readers and new friends. The people in the sewing community have cheered me on and come along side me in the past year to help me learn, grow and encourage me. My non-sewing friends and family are some of my biggest cheerleaders. Your love and encouragement mean the world to me! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for keeping me going over the past year. I hope to keep creating and blogging, but most of all, I hope in some way, big or small, you have gained something from following me. I would love to know how I could provide you with the most helpful and inspiring content.
